Fertilization Report

Of the 10 eggs retrieved, 8 of them were perfect. They fertilized all 10 of them. They split them into two groups, and let half of them fertilize naturally (if you consider throwing some sperm into a dish with an egg "natural") and the other half were fertilized using ICSI. ICSI is an acronym for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection - a fancy way of saying "inject sperm into egg". Of the 5 they let fertilize naturally, ALL 5 fertilized perfectly! Of the 5 they did ICSI on, 3 fertilized, and 1 was abnormal. So, we got 5 perfect naturally fertilized embryos, and 2 ICSI embryos, for a total of 7 perfect embryos! Lucky number 7!

On Friday, at 9:45am, we will choose the best 2 embryos to gently place back into my uterus, at which point we will pray that one or both stick and implant!

Keep sending those positive thoughts out into the universe for us! They are working!! :)
